One Step Forward, Two Steps Backwards

A few days ago, I had my hair bleached, and then eventually, after continuous bashing from random acquaintances, dyed to medium brown. Nico asked why I did it, he saw the bleached version of it and accused me of being that Japanese guy from a noontime variety show. My sister said that I look like a back-up dancer, my mom was a breath short away from disowning me, and my brother, well he didn't say anything. He just laughed really, really hard.
Mistakes like wrong dye color, or a bad choice of cut are easier to deal with. Mistakes in a relationship, however, goes way beyond what Gatsby or Wella could rectify.
Apparently, for Nico, cooling-off is the great solution to any relationship mishap. For the past few months, his favorite line has been Let's not see each other for a while. Luckily I had managed to creatve diversions to make him change his mind. I get mad, and then I cry.
But our present situation had gone from bad to Philippine economy worse. And not even crying a river would suffice. The thing is, Nico and I find it very hard to trust each other, for during the four months we tried to maintain a functional relationship, we have broken promises we both made when we were still starting.
