They Made Me Play

I am highly addicted to something new. Well, not technically new like it's a new discovery or invention but new as in I just tried it and it rocked my world. Two words. Percussion Freak. I'm not really an arcade guy, so it took ages before the news reached me.
And so at first I was reluctant to try it, because it's one of those machines that a lot of people tend to watch, and to fail in front of an audience, my potential groupies, is something I probably would not survive. But I convinced my little brother to go with me to Timezone, and we both tried it. Hitting the drums with the metal sticks was fun, it's highly commendable to people with a lot of frustrations to vent. It's safer to hit the cymbals than hitting a wall or a face.
That lead to a lot more visits to Timezone. Percussion Freak features a lot of Japanese songs, and when you're trying to learn how to play the drums on a particular song, you can't help but learn the song as well. I don't listen to Japanese songs before, mainly because I don't see the point singing a song I hardly understand. But now that it's constantly playing in my ears (and eventually in my head, because I apparently played too much Percussion Freak and it just won't leave my head) I suddenly liked J-pop. Which now explains the first part of the title. If you're a huge anime fan, you'll probably recognize 'Catch You, Catch Me' because it's the opening theme to the widely-loved anime Card Captor Sakura.

Evil Takes The Form Of Chip

I just spent four hours of the day watching The Amazing Race on TV [ I saw the live telecast during the morning, and then the replay in the evening with Chris]. I must say, Chip & Kim winning the race was an all-time low. Lying outright to Brendan & Nicole was way worse than Mirna stealing Colin's cab.
Throughout the course of the race, I wanted Brandon & Nicole to win. I figured Colin & Christie winning the million dollars would just be plain predictable, and I sure am not counting on the twinkie twins or the truly lesbian moms to win. But as the race progresses, I began to love the moms (for they are funny most of the time, trying to do the stunts) and I began to despise Chip. He was like 'I want Colin to self-destruct'. He turned preacher on Nicole during that time she was nagging Brandon about money. How can he be saying things like 'Jesus help me' without God smiting him? He's out there doing things even Miss Manners wouldn't even think of doing.
Towards the end of the race (Calgary leg) I wanted Colin & Christie to win. I knew Brandon and Nicole would not make it the moment Nicole shed tears over her mountain bicycle. You traveled six continents and you cannot ride a bike? And then at the airport, they finally turned from Christian to Colin & Christie followers. They were packing bags and arguing with attendants like Colin & Christie. Anyway, I really think Colin and Chrisite were very much deserving to win the race, and not Chip and Kim. At least Colin and Christie's problems were personal - high levels of ego, very low temper.
It's nice to see the Philippines featured in two episodes of the Amazing Race. Well at least the world now knows how the Philippine flag looks like. I was expecting a Balot (Duck Egg) Detour, but the 150 ft rope climb kicked ass. Hats off to Momma Karen for accomplishing that (although they were eliminated afterwards).
Today's Quote: Nicole: "How fast do you drive?" Driver: "Slow."
